Cora’s TBR Challenge Check-In

Ten months down, two months to go fellow readers! How is your TBR Challenge going?

I’m behind schedule, but that seems to be the case every single year, lol. Still looking for a new day job, still Treasurer for my RWA chapter that struck out on its own (we’re Regency Fiction Writers now, open to anyone–published or not–who writes in any genre and sets their books during the Regency era), so still short on reading (and writing!) time. But I’m not so far behind that I won’t make it. I’ve only got eight TBR books to read before the end of the year, and I could read eight books in a week if I didn’t have anything else to do 😉

I’ve also been trying to carve out time each week specifically to do something relaxing–not housework, or Treasurer work, or looking for jobs, or anything that might be considered productive–and I’ve spent a lot of that time reading. If that pattern continues, I’ll be fine…though I might have to stick to some of the shorter books in my TBR 😀

  1. Hi Cora. I think I’m failure in the TBR! My GR challenge is at 92 out of 150. That’s mostly because I’m not counting rereads. In Oct, I started & DNF’d a number of books, mostly audiobooks, so I’m not counting those. I’m still working from home & it looks like I will be till at least next Sept. My office is permanently closed & I will go back to another office further away. Boo hiss. Especially since my car now has 196k miles! I just started a new position which is much busier, so no down time to read during the day. It sounds like you are doing OK, despite being out of work. Do you still have the library job?

    1. Glad to hear you’re still working! I had an interview a couple of weeks ago, and they indicated they’d be working from home at least until summertime, too–seems like a smart move. Bummer about the longer commute, though. At least you won’t have to worry about it for a while 🙂

I never got that library job, so it’s just unemployment and and book royalties keeping me going at the moment. But Bo and I are okay, and the house is stocked with food–colder weather makes me want to bake, so my kitchen is full of goodies 😉

      1. Oh, for some reason I thought you had both jobs. Glad you are OK. I feel like eating all the time. It rained all day the last 2 days. Best of luck & Happy Halloween!
