Cora’s TBR Challenge Check-In

Happy first day of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere! And happy first day of spring in deadly-proofthe Southern Hemisphere! The weather hasn’t changed much here in Southeast Michigan (yet), but my reading habits have. How’s your TBR Challenge going?

After all the reading time I found during my trip to the UK last month, September has been rather disappointing. I haven’t finished a single book this month, though I am in the middle of three: a novel (Deadly Proof, the fourth book in M. Louisa Locke’s Victorian San Francisco Mystery series), and two research books (Regency Spies [which isn’t actually helping me, but it’s quite interesting] and To Hell Or Monto [which has been very useful]).

I’ve been writing a lot lately, though, which is why my reading time has been so abysmal. Characters are talking to me for books I haven’t even outlined yet, and that’s not a bad thing (especially with three–yes three!–releases scheduled for next year). It just means that I’ll have to make adjustments to my daily schedule yet again 🙂

  1. Hi Cora! 113 books to date. I have been doing some rereads & not tracking them – Lord of Scoundrels, which is a comfort read, and the follow up The Mad Earl’s Bride. I finished the last book in a series by Catherine Bybee. Now starting, finally, Spindle Cove. The new Tessa Dare book is coming out next week and Tessa is coming to my book club in Oct. I know Carol is seeing her & all of the authors at HRR this week! So jealous! Congratulations on your writing endeavors, Cora!

    1. 113 books? Rock ‘n’ roll! I loved Lord of Scoundrels, but somehow didn’t realize there was another book that went with it–I’m putting The Mad Earl’s Bride on my list 🙂 Have fun at your book club with Tessa next month!!

      1. The Mad Earl’s Bride is a novella. I think you can get it on it’s own as an ebook, or I have it in an anthology called Three Weddings and a Kiss. 🙂

  2. Cora, there are 4 books plus the novella in the Scoundrels series:

    The Lion’s Daughter
    Captives of the Night
    Lord of Scoundrels
    The Mad Earl’s Bride
    The Last Hellion

I have read 43 books to date this year including 6 in September. Attending the Historical Romance Retreat was amazing but I’m now behind with my reviews with four to do. I’m determined to finish these and post them before I start reading another book. It’s difficult because I have two books I really want to read, Do You Want to Start a Scandal, the latest in Spindle Cove series from Tessa Dare and Duke of Pleasure, the latest in Elizabeth Hoyt’s Maiden Lane series.

    1. Thanks for the list! I can feel my TBR pile growing…again 🙂

I got Do You Want to Start a Scandal, but haven’t had a chance to read it yet either. We’ll both get to it eventually, I’m sure 🙂
