TBR Challenge

TBR Challenge Check-In

August is nearly gone and the end of summer is fast approaching in the Northern Hemisphere (though you’d never know it based on the weather in some places). Has the season been kind to your TBR pile?

Summer (and August in particular) turned out to be busier for me than I anticipated. I had a new house to unpack, several editing projects to tackle, and more responsibility at the day job. I haven’t actually read a book the whole month!

But during quite moments at the office I have been continuing to listen to Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon. I read the book (and indeed, the whole series save #8) in paper form several years ago, so it isn’t a new story for me. But listening is a completely different experience for me than reading, and Davina Porter is a wonderful narrator. She manages the Gaelic and French phrases so much better than my eyes can, plus she handles the various accents as though she used them every day (though I will admit her American accent is a tad off). I can only manage to sound Canadian or slightly Celtic when I’m tired 😉

  1. Cora, according to Goodreads, I am two books behind my target. It’s mainly due to the fact that I have been spending time putting together the author interviews for my blog. Hopefully, I will be on target by the end of the year.

      1. Cora, I have been amazed by the response I’ve received from the authors I’ve approached. Everyone has been so enthusiastic about doing the interview. I wanted the questions to have a more personal slant rather than the usual author-related ones and I think that appealed to them. I can see this being a regular weekly item on my blog for quite some time because I already have interviews scheduled for each Friday until the middle of October and more to come.

  2. I am up to 79 books for the year. I am currently rereading Lisa Kleypas Travis series. I got the newest book from the library. I would still like to be reading at least 3 books a week, but I have been taking my daughter to look at colleges & taking her driving (ack! 16!), so that has cut into my free time a little. It’s all good. I am in Fla on vacation right now & finished 2 books in the last 3 days. We have been having rain on & off.
