Cora’s TBR Challenge Check-In

Happy April, fellow readers! We’re well into Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and Fall in the Southern Hemisphere. Have you been working on your TBR Challenge or spending time outside?

Knowing the end of the month was coming up spurred me to pick up a TBR book–The Hanover Square Affair by Ashley Gardner (also known as Jennifer Ashley), a Regency mystery novel in a bundle I picked up four years ago–but, as is becoming my habit, I didn’t read much the rest of the month. I’ve been writing a fair amount, getting my summer releases ready to go. I’m also in the process of getting a dog, so most of my free time the past few weeks has been devoted to back-and-forth-ing with a couple of rescues in the area. There’s good news on that front, though–Max, a German Shepherd mix, is coming home to me this weekend 😀

My book-buying habits haven’t slowed, though. It seems I picked up four more books this month, bringing my bought-in-2017 total to 25. Twenty-five books in just four months! And here I thought I’d been holding myself back this year. Max’s foster mom says that he likes to hang around the house with his person, so maybe he and I will spend more of May reading…and less time purchasing 😉

  1. Hi Cora! Congratulations on your new dog! He looks like a cutie! I am disappointed in my reading progress, too. Only 39 for the year, so far. I was doing more rereads to reduce stress. We had 2 open houses and an orientation at the college where I work this week, so late nights & no reading! Also, we have been in the process of deciding my daughter’s college choice for next year, and she chose the school where I least wanted her to go, so that has been causing me some major stress. I am reading my last Mackenzie & McBride book, A Mackenzie Family Gathering. A lot of rehashing of Ian’s sad history. Someone is psychoanalizing him without a license and it is making me nervous. Anyway, at least I have succeeded at one of my goals!

    1. One goal down is better than none! But I know what you mean about re-reading to reduce stress–I contemplated doing the same thing a few times this month. When we need comfort, we need comfort 🙂

  2. April has been a good month because I have read six books and my total for year so far is 16. I am well ahead of my target of 3 books a month. I am also up to date with my reviews with only the book I finished today to review. However, I have added 6 books this month, the majority being complimentary copies for review.

I saw pictures of Max on your FB page. He will be great company.

  3. I am going on vacation next Tues through Sun, to visit my father & stepmother in their new retirement community. Hoping to get lots of reading done! 😉
