Cora’s TBR Challenge Check-In

Two months down and ten to go! Are you making progress toward your TBR Challenge goal? I haven’t, actually. I’m judging books that have been entered in Romance Writers of America’s RITA Awards, so I’ve been reading those all month…and that’s all I’m allowed to say about them 🙂 My scores are due in this week, so I’ll be back to my old reading habits in just a few days and have more to report for March.

I can talk about the addition of my Bought In 2017 shelf on Goodreads. So far this year I’ve purchased fourteen books, and all but one are e-books that were on sale. That doesn’t really tell me anything new–I was already aware of my penchant for good deals, and e-books drop in price much more often than print books do. But it did startle me a bit to see that number glaring back at me from my Goodreads page. I’ve purchased fourteen books in just two months! No wonder my TBR pile is more of a mountain range 😀

  1. Hi Cora! My stats are all screwed up! I ended up changing my annual GR goal from 150 down to 120, as it was my intention not to show rereads. Now GR shows what books are rereads. I am at 19 books so far, and have 2 books left in Mackenzies & McBrides, as I will finish Rules for a Proper Governess today. I blew it this month for reading a book that I have won. It’s pretty prestigious for you to be a judge of books for such a great awards program!

    1. Good ol’ Goodreads–I guess you can put your goal for the year back to 150 🙂 As for the RITAs, I do feel a little important judging for them. An author has to be part of RWA’s Published Authors Network in order to be eligible to judge if she isn’t entering a book herself, so I’m in good company. And maybe next year I’ll have something to enter 😉

  2. This month, I have read 3 books from my TBR pile plus Devil in Spring, the latest release from top favourite author Lisa Kleypas but I have also acquired 7 additional books.

    1. Carol & Cora – I don’t even want to think about how many I bought, between pre-orders, B&N coupons, new books at Walmart (25% discount!) and ebooks. Ack! Maybe, I broke even with what I read, though. I also find myself rereading for comfort. I finished Sinclair McBride’s book today!
