Set in Victorian England, France, and Scotland, this book at first looks to be like any other historical romance novel. Except that the hero–Lord Ian Mackenzie–appears to have what today we’d call Asperger’s Syndrome. And the heroine–Beth Ackerley–grew up in a workhouse for the poor.
And that’s where everything changes.
A lot of readers have already discovered this book, but for those of you that haven’t, put this one at the top of your TBR list. 🙂

Oh yeah. This is the best book of the series and Ian Mackenzie is a wonderful hero!

Isn’t he great? I’ve had students with Asperger’s in my classroom, and it was nice to see a romance hero with the same condition…who was truly a hero 🙂

Yep, this one’s firmly in my “save from fire” list. The whole series is really quite good but this one is the best.

I haven’t read the rest of the series, Jennelle, but I probably will. Ian was wonderful–I totally get why this was one of you save-from-a-fire books–and the other brothers were pretty intriguing, too 😀

This was the first book I’ve read by Jennifer Ashely, but the other Mackenzie brothers’ stories look pretty interesting, too. If Ian pops in, they’ll be even better! Thanks for stopping by Carol 😀

This is a great pick for a Friday Favorite. Agreeing with the bunch here — this is my favorite Mackenzie hero, and he really does just take over any scene he’s in, when he appears in the other books. Lovely blog!
